20/08/08 - So long live the car crash hearts ...

Look! Another update, I have actually had all of this art ready to update for a while now but haven't managed to write the update until now - it has something to do with the title. I was actually in a pretty scary car crash 3 days ago on a major road going for a day trip with my friends - we were so lucky, we are all ok but aside from a few bumps and bruises but it was the scariest moment of my life. Sorry to dump this on you guys! There were 5 of us in the car - my friend was driving and we hit into the side of another car and spun across two lanes finally hitting into the middle barrier. It was awful, you can imagine why I havn't really been up to updating Reckless Heroes. Anyway, onto the actual update for this site:


Site

There's not much new site-wise, I am working on putting some more stock images together which should (hopefully) be ready for the next UD. I also did some minor tinkering with the 'Site' section, mainly the awards pages and about me. I also added a few DVD's and the past layouts.

New Art

So I have 7 pieces to add to the site - 5 Twilight, 1 The Host (Stephenie Meyer) and 1 Supernatural.


We Are All Just Scars In The Making I really love this wallpaper of the boys of Supernatural. The image is a newly released season 1 promo and is just gorgeous. The majority of the credit for this wallpaper goes to Galathea for the beautiful light texture.

Handle Me With Care I am happy with most of this, it just seems a little off to me. I struggled with the eyes, instead of them looking like mirrors they just looked glazed over. I chose Natalie Portman as Melanie/Wanderer, although I don't really like her as an actress I thought that she looked a lot like my idea of Melanie.

Battles Have Begun I don't really know why I put this wall on the site, I really liked the image but struggled to colour it and add textures. I also had problems finding lyrics for it. It turned out ok in the end but I don't love it.

I Know What You Are The trailer for Twilight has got my dying to see the film. At first (after only seeing the teaser) I wasn't to sure about the movie but now I think (or hope) it's going to be amazing. Anyway I loved the look on Robert's face in this scene of the trailer and just had to art it. I am really fond of how it turned out.

I Need You So Much Closer This image is actually from the Twilight calender and was quite grainy to start with. I decided to add to that and make it look old fashioned. I like the finished piece but again struggled finding lyrics to put on it since it's so hard to sum up all of the emotions on their faces in a few lines. I ended up with lyrics from Death Cab for Cutie - Transatlanticism.

In The Blink Of An Eye This piece just sums up the Cullens' feelings that the world is moving around them and they are not getting any older. I think that the lyrics fit it really well and am really happy with the textures in the piece. The only thing that I would change is the colouring so that the whole piece is lighter, except is doesn't really look good whenever I do it lol!

You Are My Only One The last wallpaper of this update. I did this at like midnight on my new laptop so it ended up really dark. When I viewed it in daylight you could barely see anything. I tried lightening it but could only get it this light before it looked silly. I like the composition; this image is so beautiful.

10/08/08 - And so the lion fell in love with the lamb.

Ok, this time I really have absolutely no excuse for leaving this site without updates for so long! I have actually felt really uninspired art-wise and just couldn't be bothered to update with such awful art and then quickly forgot about it completely. But now I'm back, I have a shiny new laptop, new layout for this site, new ftp software and newfound inspiration.


I am so excited about this laptop - I can actually go on a computer that isn't the family one therefore my parents won't have to keep on walking past suspiciously trying to get on the computer *squee*. The problem is that this laptop is so bright that, when going through my old art, it looks terrible since is was done on a not-so-bright screen and all of the different shades of 'black' are visible .. that didn't really make much sense did it. Anyway, onto the proper update:


Site

New layout! This one is much nicer than the old one IMO - or maybe that's just because it was up for so long. It is of Kristen Stewart as Bella and wolf-Jake from the Twilight saga in order to celebrate the release of Breaking Dawn. I thought that the book was ok but it didn't really capture the tone of the other books, oh well, it's still part of twilight and i'm sure will get better the second time around. So the layout is a lot darker than the last one since summer seems to have been and gone here and I thought that a darker site would fit the weather. I really like the colours and was absolutely stunned when I came across a pic of Kristen and a very wolf-like dog. I had to colourize the photo but I think that it turned out quite nicely.


New Art

I have done quite a few pieces over the past few months but they've been quite spread out so I'm not going to go into detail about each one. There are some Twilight, some Gossip Girl, some Moonlight etc ... 16 in total and plenty more half-finished ones on their way.

I have one new affie - Matilda over at Mongrel Minds. I am very suprised that I haven't come across her site before, her art is fabulous especially all of the texture and care with the colouring that goes into every piece:
